Senior QA Automation Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager/Head of Engineering, the Senior QA Automation Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring delivery confidence across the OneTouch care platform. This is a hands-on, automation-first role, embedded within cross-functional product squads and working closely with Engineering, Product, and SRE teams. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust automated test frameworks, embedding quality early in the development lifecycle, and supporting frequent, reliable releases in a regulated healthcare SaaS environment. This role is not a manual testing position — it is a senior technical role focused on test automation, quality strategy, and continuous improvement at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Automation & Quality Engineering

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks covering UI, API, integration, and regression testing.
  • Champion an automation-first approach, reducing reliance on manual testing while maintaining strong risk-based coverage.
  • Embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support frequent, confident releases.
  • Ensure test suites are reliable, maintainable, and provide fast feedback to engineering teams.
  • Identify quality risks early and proactively address gaps in test coverage.

Quality Strength & Delivery Confidence

  • Act as a quality advocate within your product domain, influencing engineering and product decisions with a quality-first mindset.
  • Partner with Engineering Managers and Product Managers to define test strategies aligned to roadmap priorities.
  • Support release readiness through clear quality metrics, defect analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Contribute to improving QA standards, processes, and tooling across the wider engineering organisation.

Collaboration & Platform Modernisation

  • Work closely with backend (PHP / Laravel), frontend (React), and platform teams in an API-first architecture.
  • Collaborate with SRE and Platform teams to support reliability, observability, and production readiness.
  • Support integration and unification of acquired platforms by ensuring consistent quality approaches across products.
  • Contribute to improving engineering efficiency during periods of growth, change, and integration.

Mentorship & Continuous Improvement:

  • Mentor and support junior QA engineers, helping to raise automation capability and QA maturity.
  • Share best practices and contribute to knowledge-sharing across squads.
  • Continuously evaluate tools, frameworks, and approaches to improve quality outcomes.

Required Experience:

Essential:

  • Significant experience in QA Automation within a modern SaaS product environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST/API testing).
  • Proficiency in at least one automation-friendly language (e.g. JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Python).
  • Experience testing API-first and microservices-based architectures.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration.
  • Experience working within Agile (Scrum) delivery teams.
  • Comfortable operating in regulated or compliance-driven environments.

Desirable:

  • Experience in healthcare, regulated SaaS, or compliance-heavy domains.
  • Exposure to performance, reliability, or security testing.
  • Experience supporting scaling engineering teams or platform consolidation.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or similar).
